Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ)
Foreign-Trade Zone 49 provides companies with advantages that include: deferral, reduction or elimination of certain duties, reduction of Merchandising Processing Fees, exemption from inventory tax, simplification of import/export procedures, improved inventory and quality control, enhanced security measures, and waived customs duties on zone-to-zone transfers and merchandise placed on exhibition.
Economic Redevelopment and Growth (ERG) Program
The Economic Redevelopment and Growth (ERG) Program is an incentive for developers and business to address revenue gaps in development projects, defined as having insufficient revenues to support the project debt service under a standard financing scenario. It can also apply to projects that have a below market development margin or rate of return.

Urban Enterprise Zone Program
New Jersey’s Urban Enterprise (UEZ) Program, enacted in 1983, is in the Department of Community Affairs. The UEZ Program exists to foster an economic climate that revitalizes designated urban communities and stimulates their growth by encouraging businesses to develop and create private sector jobs through public and private investment.
In order to participate in the UEZ Program, your business must be—
- Registered with the State of New Jersey
- Located within one of the 27 designated zones
- Be in tax compliance with the State of NJ
- Certified by the New Jersey UEZ program
